Polymarket brings blockchain indexing in-house

  • Polymarket has moved its main blockchain indexing system in-house using the Rust-based rindexer tool.
  • The new system can surface some on-chain events up to 14 blocks faster.
  • Goldsky will remain as a backup while Polymarket runs its own indexing system.

Polymarket has moved its main blockchain indexing system in-house using the Rust-based rindexer tool.

The new system can surface some on-chain events up to 14 blocks, or about 28 seconds, faster.

“We now see onchain data events up to 14 blocks (28 seconds) faster, and we index within 0-10ms of block broadcasting, making it nearly instant,” said Polymarket Vice President of Engineering Josh Stevens.

The change will allow trades, positions and balances to update faster as blockchain events reach Polymarket’s systems.

Rindexer is an open-source EVM indexing tool built in Rust that organises blockchain events for applications to retrieve.

Goldsky previously handled important parts of Polymarket’s real-time blockchain data infrastructure and will remain available as a backup.

The infrastructure change comes as Polymarket expands its trading products and builds more of its technology stack in-house.
