Polish Olympic Committee president Radosław Piesiewicz was arrested during a probe into suspected financial benefits linked to Zondacrypto.

Prosecutors are examining claims that Zondacrypto CEO Przemysław Kral gave Piesiewicz a €40,000 watch for regulatory help.

Piesiewicz denies receiving the watch as a gift and says he paid for it in cash.

Polish prosecutors have not disclosed charges against Piesiewicz, while Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek confirmed his arrest.

Zondacrypto became the Olympic committee’s main sponsor in October under an agreement covering 2026 to 2028.

The wider investigation began in April over suspected fraud and money laundering, with estimated customer losses above 350 million zlotys ($94 million).

Prosecutors said the exchange’s owner acknowledged it lacked access to a cold wallet holding about 4,500 Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC), while authorities received more than 3,600 complaints by June.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $80,253.38.
