OSC survey finds 39% Canadians own crypto

An Ontario Securities Commission survey found 39% of Canadians owned cryptocurrency in 2025, up from 31% in 2024.

The survey showed Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) remained the most widely owned cryptocurrency, with younger Canadians more likely to invest than older people.

The regulator said the research also looked at how Canadians buy, store and use cryptocurrency.

The findings will help the Ontario Securities Commission better understand investor behaviour and guide future policy work.

Canada was one of the first countries to approve spot cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds, giving investors more regulated investment options.

Canadian regulators continue to oversee registered crypto platforms while cryptocurrency ownership continues to grow.
