  • Oobit integrated Brazil's Pix payment network, allowing users to spend Tether's USDT through the country's instant payment system.
  • The service connects stablecoin balances to a network used by nearly 170 million people and processed BRL11 trillion in 2024.
  • The launch expands Oobit's presence in Latin America as demand for stablecoin payments continues to grow.

Oobit launched support for Brazil's Pix payment network, enabling users to deposit Brazilian reais, hold Tether (CRYPTO:USDT) and make payments through the country's instant payment infrastructure.

The integration connects stablecoin balances to Pix, a payment system created by Banco Central do Brasil in 2020 that serves nearly 170 million users and processed BRL11 trillion in transactions during 2024.

“Send USDT to any PIX key, scan a QR, top up instantly,” said Oobit Advisor Alex Obchakevich.

Oobit said users can transfer funds using Pix keys, QR codes and instant top-ups while blockchain settlement occurs behind the scenes, creating a payment experience similar to traditional banking applications.

The rollout comes as Brazilian regulators review the role of cryptocurrencies and stablecoins in the financial system, while Oobit did not disclose transaction volume expectations following the announcement.

The company raised US$25 million in a Series A funding round in 2024 led by Tether, with participation from CMCC Global's Titan Fund, 468 Capital and Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko.

The launch follows growing stablecoin adoption across Latin America, where Bitso reported stablecoins accounted for 40% of cryptocurrency purchases in 2025 compared with 18% for Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC), while competitors including Nubank and Circle continue expanding stablecoin payment initiatives in the region.

At the time of reporting, Solana price was $69.88.
