Ledger investigates reseller-linked crypto losses above $86 million
- Ledger is investigating reported crypto losses linked to devices sold by Southeast Asian reseller CryptoBilis.
- Blockchain researchers estimate suspected thefts exceed US$86 million, but the losses remain unconfirmed.
- Ledger has urged CryptoBilis to suspend sales and warned recent buyers against activating their devices.
Ledger is probing suspected crypto losses exceeding US$86 million linked to devices sold by Southeast Asian reseller CryptoBilis.
CryptoBilis is an authorised Ledger reseller in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, placing regional customers at the centre of the investigation.
“Ledger’s infrastructure, systems and services were not compromised,” the company said in a statement, adding that its investigation remained ongoing.
Ledger asked CryptoBilis to halt device sales and shipments while investigators examine reports of missing customer funds.
Customers who bought devices through CryptoBilis within the past 90 days should not activate them, while existing users should consider transferring assets to a new Ledger device with a freshly generated recovery phrase.
Researchers traced suspected outflows across Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Tron (TRX), with estimates ranging from US$72 million to more than US$86 million.
A supply-chain attack involving tampered devices remains one possible explanation, but investigators have not confirmed the cause or linked all reported losses to CryptoBilis.
The investigation remains ongoing, with the total losses, number of affected customers and any device compromise still unconfirmed.
