JCB has signed a memorandum of understanding with Circle to explore payments and cross-border settlements using USD Coin (CRYPTO:USDC).

The companies will examine how USDC could improve payment efficiency for merchants and international transactions.

"This partnership reflects our shared interest in expanding digital payment options," the companies said.

The project will explore stablecoin payments, settlement services and other blockchain-based financial applications.

JCB said the agreement is part of its broader effort to evaluate new payment technologies for customers and merchants.

Stablecoins are attracting growing interest from payment companies because they can reduce settlement times and improve cross-border transfers.
