Fireblocks joins x402 push for AI stablecoin payments
Fireblocks has launched Agentic Payments Suite and joined the x402 Foundation as the company expands its infrastructure business around AI-driven stablecoin payments.
The platform is designed to support the full lifecycle of AI agent payments, including wallet infrastructure, merchant payment acceptance, settlement systems and compliance tools for regulated financial institutions.
Fireblocks said the framework was purpose-built for Coinbase’s x402 protocol, which aims to become a universal payment rail for AI agents transacting with stablecoins and digital assets.
“Over a billion people use AI assistants daily,”
Said Fireblocks co-founder and chief product officer, Idan Ofrat.
“If even a fraction starts delegating spending authority” to AI agents, stablecoin transaction velocity would “increase substantially,”
Ofrat said.
The launch comes as crypto and technology companies increasingly position AI agents as future users of blockchain payments, with executives including Brian Armstrong and Jeremy Allaire predicting AI-driven transactions could eventually surpass human activity onchain.
Recent integrations include Amazon Web Services adding Coinbase’s x402 protocol to Amazon Bedrock AgentCore and crypto startup Oobit launching a Visa-supported card allowing AI agents to spend Tether online for businesses.
