Ethereum postpones Glamsterdam upgrade on Hoodi testnet
- Ethereum developers have postponed the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi testnet, cancelling its planned 26 October activation.
- The delay allows further investigation into how EIP-8037 interacts with existing Ethereum mainnet smart contracts.
- Developers have not announced a replacement date, and the postponement does not affect Ethereum mainnet users.
Ethereum (ETH) developers have postponed the Glamsterdam upgrade on Hoodi, removing its scheduled 26 October activation.
The Ethereum Foundation confirmed the delay on 22 October, with no replacement activation date set.
Core developers delayed the upgrade to investigate interactions between EIP-8037 and existing Ethereum mainnet smart contracts.
The decision also removes the planned Amsterdam execution-layer and Gloas consensus-layer activations from Hoodi’s configuration.
The postponed schedule also cancels a planned increase in Hoodi’s gas limit to 200 million.
Node operators and validators must update their execution and consensus clients to versions confirming the revised schedule.
Glamsterdam aims to improve Ethereum’s transaction processing and block validation through block-level access lists and revised gas accounting.
The postponement affects Hoodi testing only, leaving Ethereum mainnet activation undecided and requiring no action from ETH holders.
