Ethereum confirms October 6 Glamsterdam test
- Ethereum has confirmed October 6 for the public Sepolia test of its Glamsterdam upgrade.
- Developers have warned that fake builders could disrupt the test by winning block auctions and withholding payloads.
- A Hoodi test is tentatively planned for October 27, while no mainnet date has been set.
Ethereum has confirmed October 6 for the public Sepolia test of the Glamsterdam upgrade.
Client teams must release Sepolia-ready software by September 29, giving developers one week before testing begins.
“I can just spin up a thousand builders, rotate them, offer very high bids, and not produce payloads,” said Ethereum consensus developer Potuz.
The warning concerns fake builders using free Sepolia ETH to repeatedly win block auctions without submitting payloads.
Developers said this could stall the Sepolia test, but the test network does not put Ethereum mainnet funds at risk.
Glamsterdam is designed to support around 200 million gas per block, while Hoodi testing is tentatively scheduled for October 27.
Ethereum developers have not set a mainnet activation date, with further testing needed before any deployment decision.
