Coinbase has launched regulated crypto derivatives in Canada, offering eligible customers access to 23 perpetual and dated futures.

The contracts cover Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC), Ether (CRYPTO:ETH), Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) and other digital assets, alongside five commodity futures and the Coinbase 50 Index.

Coinbase said the products are offered through Coinbase Financial Markets, a futures commission merchant registered with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Access is limited to eligible Canadian customers, including those with at least $5 million in net financial assets, as well as registered investment advisers and dealers.

The contracts use nano-sized positions and offer leverage of up to 10x, according to Coinbase.

The launch follows Webull’s expansion of crypto trading in Canada and Robinhood’s June acquisition of WonderFi for $180 million.

Coinbase’s Canadian derivatives launch comes as regulators tighten oversight of other parts of the country’s crypto market, including proposed restrictions on crypto ATMs.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $77,136.81.
