Cardano active addresses surge as ADA trades near multi-year lows

  • Cardano's daily active addresses have climbed to a multi-year high even as ADA trades near price levels last seen in late 2020.
  • The increase in network activity coincides with a rise in bearish social sentiment following comments from Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson and governance disputes.
  • Market analysts say similar periods of elevated network activity and fear have previously been followed by short-term price rebounds, although no outcome is guaranteed.

Cardano (CRYPTO:ADA) has recorded a multi-year high in daily active addresses while its native token trades near price levels last seen in December 2020, highlighting a divergence between on-chain activity and market valuation.

Blockchain analytics platform Santiment reported that the increase in active addresses has been accompanied by a sharp rise in social dominance, with much of the discussion driven by bearish sentiment rather than renewed investor optimism.

Recent comments from Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson warning that additional ecosystem projects could fail, together with his decision to reduce his public-facing role and ongoing treasury governance disputes, have contributed to the increase in negative community sentiment.

Despite the recent uncertainty, Cardano has continued to rank among the leading blockchain networks for developer activity, indicating that technical development has remained active even as investor confidence has weakened.

Santiment said similar periods in which active addresses and social discussion increased during heightened fear have previously been followed by short-term price recoveries, although the analytics firm did not suggest the pattern would necessarily repeat.

The data does not distinguish between new users and existing holders moving assets, making it difficult to determine whether the increase reflects broader adoption or elevated activity from current participants.

ADA continues to trade in a challenging market environment shaped by regulatory uncertainty and weakness across the altcoin sector, meaning broader market conditions could outweigh any short-term signals from on-chain activity.

At the time of reporting, Cardano price was $0.1402.
