Buterin proposes new Ethereum transaction design

  • Vitalik Buterin has proposed separating Ethereum transactions into actions and dependencies.
  • The design could let nodes check some transaction requirements in parallel.
  • EIP-8141 remains a draft, with no approved mainnet launch date.

Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin has proposed a transaction design that could let nodes process some checks in parallel.

The proposal separates transactions into actions that change network state and dependencies that prove they are valid.

“One positive consequence of all the recent detailed thinking about transaction formats,” said Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum co-founder, in a September 5 post on X.

Dependencies can include digital signatures, state proofs and other conditions that must be checked before transactions execute.

Buterin said predictable transactions could eventually receive lower gas costs if clients can verify them more efficiently.

The proposal also connects with EIP-8141, a draft framework for Frame Transactions covering validation, fee payment and execution.

Ethereum developers have not approved EIP-8141 for mainnet, while Buterin’s broader design remains a research proposal without a confirmed launch date.

At the time of reporting, Ethereum price was $2,509.42.
