Blockchain.com and NYSE have signed an MOU to explore global trading of tokenised US equities and ETFs.

The plan would connect Blockchain.com users to NYSE’s digital ATS, subject to required regulatory approvals.

“Tokenized stocks are one of the most impactful advancements in the modern financial landscape, and a key catalyst for greater economic freedom,” according to Blockchain.com Executive Chairman, CEO and Co-Founder Peter Smith.

Blockchain.com has more than 44 million confirmed accounts, creating a large distribution base for tokenised securities.

“The future of capital markets belongs to institutions that unite the trust of traditional finance with the innovation and accessibility of digital assets,” according to NYSE Group President Lynn Martin.

The MOU also covers market-data distribution, with ICE Data Services planning to offer Blockchain.com analytics to subscribers.

Blockchain.com plans to add selected ICE and NYSE data feeds to its app, while its platform supports more than 95 million wallets.

Following the announcement, Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE:ICE) shares were up 2.24% at $156.35.
