Trump Iran pause lifts Bitcoin above $77K
Bitcoin climbed back toward $77,000 after US President Donald Trump said he had halted a planned military strike on Iran following appeals from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
Trump said Gulf leaders requested a delay to allow space for negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme, while also warning US forces remained prepared for a “full, large-scale assault” if talks fail.
The announcement triggered a broader market rebound, with Nasdaq 100 futures and the S&P 500 moving higher while spot gold also gained as investors reduced expectations of an immediate escalation in Middle East tensions.
Bitcoin rose roughly 0.8% within the hour following Trump’s statement, recovering above $77,000 after dropping below that level during weekend trading as geopolitical fears intensified.
Crypto markets had previously faced heavy selling pressure after Trump warned that Iran’s “clock is ticking,” triggering roughly $580 million in long liquidations across digital asset markets.
Spot Bitcoin ETF flows had also weakened before the announcement, with more than $1 billion leaving funds over the prior week as investors reduced exposure to risk assets amid geopolitical uncertainty.
Market participants are now watching whether Iran responds positively to the diplomatic framework proposed by Gulf mediators, with further volatility likely to depend on developments in negotiations and additional statements from Washington and Tehran.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $76,606.18.
