Bitcoin Red Team found 4,962 potential security issues across 390 projects during its first 29.8 hours of operation.

The 16-person volunteer team classified 720 findings as high or critical, while 21.4% have been reproduced so far.

“We’re averaging on the order of 1 critical exploit per hour per person,” said Bitcoin developer Calle.

The group combines AI tools with human review to scan open-source Bitcoin-related repositories for potential security weaknesses.

Bitcoin Red Team includes AnchorWatch CEO Rob Hamilton and Bitcoin developer Calle among its volunteer security researchers.

The campaign began days after attackers stole more than US$100 million in Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) through a Coldcard hardware wallet vulnerability.

Before the larger review, the group scanned about 150 repositories and made more than 12 private disclosures.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $64,506.50.
