  • An Argentine judge dismissed the investigation into President Javier Milei and his sister, Karina Milei, over the LIBRA memecoin scandal.
  • Prosecutor Eduardo Taiano requested the dismissal following scrutiny of the token’s launch and collapse.
  • The decision closes this criminal investigation into the Milei family’s involvement in the controversy.

Argentina’s federal judge Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi has dismissed the investigation into President Javier Milei and his sister, according to Reuters.

The investigation followed Milei’s February 2025 promotion of LIBRA (LIBRA), whose price rose before collapsing.

Milei said he had acted “in good faith” and accused political opponents of exploiting the controversy.

Federal prosecutor Eduardo Taiano requested the dismissal before Martínez de Giorgi ordered the investigation closed.

Milei deleted his promotional post on X after the token’s price plunged and denied having a connection to the cryptocurrency.

The investigation examined possible fraud linked to LIBRA’s launch and subsequent collapse.

Blockchain researchers reported that eight wallets linked to the token’s creator withdrew approximately $99 million in cryptocurrency, according to the report.

The ruling closes the investigation into Milei and his sister over the LIBRA memecoin scandal.
