Wide Open Agriculture extends China distribution deal to 2028
Key points
- Wide Open Agriculture extended its exclusive mainland China distribution agreement with Univar Solutions China through Dec. 31, 2028.
- The revised deal ties a 50-tonne minimum purchase obligation to commercial product availability rather than a fixed calendar timeline.
- The extension maintains distribution exclusivity in mainland China while the company works to rebuild its manufacturing supply chain.
Wide Open Agriculture (ASX:WOA) has extended its exclusive mainland China distribution agreement with Univar Solutions China until Dec. 31, 2028, as it works to re-establish supply for its lupin protein ingredients.
The revised contract retains a minimum purchase requirement of 50 tonnes, but the 12-month purchasing window will now only begin once commercial production is restored and formal written notice is provided.
"We continue to have a strong partnership with Univar, based on our shared belief in the future potential for lupin ingredients in China," said Wide Open Agriculture CEO Craig Swan.
The transition follows the closure of the group's German manufacturing facility, leaving the arrangement without immediate revenue or guaranteed delivery dates until contract manufacturing partners are finalised.
Following the announcement, the Wide Open Agriculture share price was up to $0.011.
Wide Open Agriculture is currently negotiating framework agreements with four prospective contract manufacturing partners to supply its plant-based protein range.
Univar Solutions China will handle market development, application trials, and customer engagement across beverages and nutrition sectors from its Shanghai headquarters during the extended period.
