Valiant Gold (ASX:VAL) announced that dewatering at its 100%-owned Comet Gold Mine in Western Australia reached 170m below surface, maintaining its target for first production in the second half of FY27.
The update shows progress at the Murchison site compared to earlier development phases, with core facilities, workshops, site offices, and a medical centre now fully established.
“Our immediate priorities are to commission permanent site power, complete the Comet Restart Study and finalise the underground mining and drilling contracts,” said Valiant Gold Managing Director & CEO Brendan Tritton.
Work on the power station is underway, with completion targeted for the end of October, while the Comet Restart Study remains on track for completion prior to the end of Q2 FY27.
Following the announcement, the Valiant Gold share price was unchanged at $0.26.
The mining company is progressing tenders for underground mining services and is nearing the completion of a drilling contractor appointment.
Valiant Gold stated that underground drilling will support grade control and test expansion opportunities across its existing 1.2-million-ounce mineral resource.
