Nelson Resources commences rehab at Great Western mine
- Nelson Resources has started an underground mine rehabilitation programme at the Great Western Mine.
- Following the announcement, the company’s share price was unchanged at $0.004.
- The exploration programme aims to establish drill-ready targets from existing underground infrastructure.
Nelson Resources (ASX:NES) has commenced rehabilitation activities at the Great Western Mine to advance its staged underground exploration strategy at Gold Point.
The deployment follows surface exploration around the broader Great Western and Grand Central areas that returned high-grade rock chip results, including 32.2g/t gold and 244g/t silver.
The company stated that applying the staged approach used at the Orleans Mine will allow it to restore and stabilise access, complete mapping and sampling, and undertake survey work.
The Gold Point Project includes five historic mines with more than 5km of underground workings and more than 20 additional shafts where at least 75,000oz of gold was reportedly produced at grades of 20–30g/t gold.
Work at the location is expected by the company to include access rehabilitation, underground mapping and sampling, survey work, target ranking, and evaluation of future underground drilling positions.
Following the announcement, the Nelson Resources share price was unchanged at $0.004.
The project relies on an underground exploration approach that the company stated creates the opportunity to drill closer to targets with shorter holes and better drill angles.
The company previously completed a rehabilitation programme at the nearby Orleans Mine and mobilised drilling equipment to Gold Point in May.
