Inghams Group (ASX:ING) responded to a stock exchange price query after its share price rose from $2.08 to $2.23 in a single trading session.
The trading activity followed media reports speculating about a potential acquisition of the business.
"We have received no offers or approaches of the type described," stated Inghams Group CEO Andrew Reeves.
The company stated it is not in any discussions regarding a possible takeover.
Following the announcement, the Inghams Group share price was up at $2.20.
The business operates as the largest integrated poultry producer across Australia and New Zealand.
