Lisa Cook Warns on Fed's Ability to Counter AI-Driven Unemployment

Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook said the US central bank may not be able to counter rising unemployment driven by adoption of artificial intelligence. Cook warned, "our normal demand-side monetary policy may not be able to ameliorate an AI-caused unemployment spell without also increasing inflationary pressure," during comments Tuesday at an event in Washington.

Arini CIO Expects Defaults, Disruption in Credit Markets Around Software

"We will not need to see the disruption to see some of the issues," said Hamza Lemssouguer, founder and chief investment officer of Arini Capital Management, in an interview. "The market always gets ahead of it. The immediate issue that we see is the increase in cost of capital for a lot of these companies which will eventually lead to significant defaults, disruption and dislocation in credit markets."
