Botala Energy secures 1,812km² expansion in Botswana

Botala Energy (ASX:BTE) has expanded its Serowe Coal Bed Methane Project by securing three new 100% owned prospecting licences across 1,812km2 in Botswana.

The new licence PL0089/2026 covers 948km2 and directly adjoins the company's existing Serowe mining licence and Pitse Pilot area.

Internal geological mapping shows the target Serowe seam thickens to 14m–16m across prospective zones within the PL0089 licence.

Botala stated that priority drilling targets have been identified, with initial exploration scheduled for early 2027.

Following the announcement, the Botala Energy share price was unchanged at $0.062.

The broader Serowe basin holdings now exceed 6,000km², positioning the business to advance commercial gas development beyond stand-alone pilot projects.

The expansion links near-term commercialisation at Pitse with long-term regional growth opportunities across Botswana.
