BCAL Diagnostics (ASX:BDX) has commenced the Australian rollout of the Avantect Multi-Cancer blood-based diagnostic test in Sydney and Melbourne.
The phased launch provides local patients access to non-invasive testing capable of detecting signals across eight distinct cancer types alongside organ-of-origin indicators.
BCAL CEO Anne-Louise Arnett said, “The direction of cancer diagnostics is increasingly towards earlier, less-invasive detection, and blood-based testing has a role to play in that shift.”
The company reported that validation study results demonstrated an overall sensitivity of 56.2% and a specificity of 98.4% across all analysed cancer types.
Initial processing of Australian patient samples will take place at ClearNote Health's US laboratory before testing expands nationally through local clinical networks.
The addition expands the firm's early detection lineup to four blood-based tests while leveraging established clinical referral pathways.
Following the announcement the BCAL Diagnostics share price was unchanged at $0.082.
The organisation focuses on commercialising liquid biopsy technology to improve early disease detection rates across clinical settings.
