American Rare Earths begins major Wyoming drilling

American Rare Earths (ASX:ARR) commenced its 2026 exploration drilling programme at the Cowboy State Mine within the Halleck Creek Rare Earths Project in Wyoming.

The campaign marks the beginning of feasibility-level drilling at what is widely considered the largest known rare earth deposit in the United States on a total rare earth oxide basis.

The programme is specifically structured to supply the essential geological and geotechnical data required for a definitive feasibility study.

To execute the campaign, the company has engaged Boart Longyear to drill approximately 3,050 metres (10,000 feet) of HQ core across 19 planned holes on Red Mountain.

Dahrouge Geological Consulting has been retained to manage the exploration programme and oversee on-site geological logging and sample preparation.

Drilling officially began on 13 May 2026 and is scheduled to wrap up by mid-July, producing roughly 1,045 core samples for assaying.

According to Mark Wall, CEO of American Rare Earths, the company is moving ahead with this feasibility-stage drilling in parallel with optimising its pre-feasibility study to maintain momentum towards full production.

The project is split, with nine core holes targeting higher-grade zones at the top of Red Mountain to support future ore reserve estimation for the first five years of planned mining.

Meanwhile, another ten holes will be drilled around the mountain's base to delineate further high-grade mineralisation.

At the time of reporting, American Rare Earths’ share price was $0.42.
