1414 Degrees launches commercial silicon battery scale-up

1414 Degrees (ASX:14D) launched the scale-up phase of its SiNTL silicon nanoparticle anode programme, marking a transition from laboratory-scale development to commercial engagement.

The clean technology company is purchasing advanced production equipment to manufacture manufacturer-relevant quantities of its proprietary silicon anode material at its research partner facility, George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

The expansion allows 14D to accelerate formal third-party material evaluations and structured original equipment manufacturer qualification processes, while simultaneously identifying early revenue streams.

Driven by positive SiNTL performance testing that established a robust technical baseline for drone and unmanned aerial vehicle applications, 14D has commenced active collaboration with full-stack contract battery manufacturers.

The partnership aims to produce complete battery cells optimised for extreme aerospace and advanced technology sectors, including UAVs, satellites, robotics, and aircraft.

A primary focus remains capacity optimisation towards an initial near-term milestone of 600 mAh/g.

The target is over 50% higher than conventional graphite anodes and roughly 20% above existing commercial silicon-enhanced alternatives.

Battery capacity remains a critical constraint for modern UAV platforms, and 14D’s exclusive global licence with GWU—where Professor Michael Wagner’s technical team continues to pioneer capacity expansion—positions the company to capitalise on substantial market interest.

At the time of reporting, 1414 Degrees’ share price was $0.13.
