About
ao Computer is a hyper-parallel decentralized computing network built on top of Arweave's permanent data storage layer. The architecture enables an arbitrary number of processes to run concurrently in parallel while communicating through asynchronous message passing. Unlike traditional single-threaded blockchains, the system decouples computation, message routing, and transaction ordering into specialized node roles, allowing processes to execute without shared memory bottlenecks or state contention. Computing states are permanently anchored to Arweave storage, providing deterministic, verifiable, and trustless execution for smart contracts, autonomous agents, and decentralized applications.

Products and/or services of ao Computer
- Compute Units: Decentralized worker nodes that execute state transitions and WASM-based computations for individual processes. Compute units evaluate message logs sequentially, generate verifiable cryptographic state proofs, and return execution results to clients without bottlenecking other processes.
- Scheduler Units: Core infrastructure components responsible for sequencing and assigning deterministic order to incoming messages. Scheduler units log ordered message streams directly onto Arweave's permanent storage layer, ensuring auditability and reproducible state evaluation across the network.
- Messenger Units: Network nodes that handle message routing, signing, and delivery between users, scheduler units, and compute units. Messenger units enable peer-to-peer communication across parallel execution threads, managing data transfer without directly processing smart contract logic.
- WASM Process Runtime: A sandboxed virtual machine execution environment supporting WebAssembly bytecode. It allows developers to deploy smart contracts and programs written in languages such as C, Rust, or Lua with isolated memory allocation and concurrent execution.
- Autonomous Finance Framework: An ecosystem protocol suite for building decentralized financial infrastructure, including automated market makers, token exchange pools, and algorithmic trading bots that operate asynchronously and continuously across parallel processes without main-chain congestion.
- Network Staking Protocol: A native economic protocol allowing token holders to lock assets to earn network emission yield, secure consensus operations, and participate in node operator delegation across decentralized compute and scheduling infrastructure.
