
XPENG raises $900 million for robotics
- XPENG’s robotics business signed agreements to raise more than US$900 million from global investors at a post-money valuation above US$6.3 billion.
- The funding will support Physical AI research, humanoid robot development, manufacturing facilities, and commercialization efforts.
- XPENG stated that its IRON humanoid robot is targeted for mass production by the end of 2026 and broader commercial deployment from 2027.
XPENG (NYSE:XPEV) announced that its robotics business has secured more than US$900 million in funding from global investors, giving the unit a post-money valuation of more than US$6.3 billion.
The financing round was led by IDG Capital, with participation from Gaorong Ventures and strategic support from Tencent and Alibaba, as XPENG expands its robotics development activities.
The company stated that the capital will support full-stack Physical AI research, AI model training, data generation, mass production facilities, and development of its next-generation humanoid robot IRON.
XPENG stated that it will retain controlling ownership and continue consolidating the robotics business in its financial statements.
The company stated that IRON is targeted for mass production by the end of 2026, with broader commercial deployment planned from 2027.
XPENG develops electric vehicles and artificial intelligence technologies, with the robotics business forming part of its broader investment in autonomous systems and Physical AI development.
