X plans to roll out a new “Smart Cashtags” feature next month, allowing users to track real-time prices of cryptocurrencies and stocks.
The tool will display live market data, recent discussions and related news for each listed asset.
X head of product Nikita Bier said the platform aims to gather user feedback before a wider public release in February.
X is the best source for financial news and hundreds of billions of dollars are deployed based on things people read here.

The feature builds on Elon Musk’s vision to turn X into an all-in-one platform combining social media and financial services.
Concept images suggest Smart Cashtags may later include in-app “Buy” and “Sell” buttons.
X previously launched a simpler Cashtags feature in 2022 showing price charts for major assets, which was later removed.
The earlier version relied on third-party data and linked users to external trading platforms.
X has secured money transmitter licences in at least 25 US states, signalling progress towards payments integration.
The rollout comes amid recent criticism from the crypto community over alleged suppression of legitimate crypto content.
