WeRide (NASDAQ:WRD) has partnered with Uber (NYSE:UBER) to launch a commercial robotaxi service in the Greater Zurich Region in 2026.
This Swiss deployment represents the second European market expansion for the companies following an initial rollout in Madrid.
The partnership will leverage WeRide's existing driverless permits issued by Switzerland's Federal Roads Office.
Local transport operator Rydera will manage the day-to-day fleet activities as operations scale up in core urban areas.
The deployment intends to scale to fully driverless operations over time, and following the announcement, WeRide's share price was unchanged at $4.50.
This European expansion builds on the operational experience WeRide gained from its autonomous vehicle deployments in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Riyadh.
