  • Vera Therapeutics received United States FDA accelerated approval for TRUTAKNA to treat primary IgA nephropathy.
  • The specialized clinical therapy achieved a 46% reduction in patient baseline proteinuria levels during key trials.
  • The regulatory milestone positions the company to capture rising market share in the chronic kidney disease landscape.

Vera Therapeutics (NASDAQ:VERA) received United States FDA accelerated approval for TRUTAKNA (atacicept-vymj) to reduce proteinuria in adults with primary IgA nephropathy at risk of rapid disease progression.

The targeted kidney treatment functions as a once-weekly 150 mg subcutaneous autoinjector that simultaneously binds both BAFF and APRIL proteins to block key immunological pathways.

"The clinical data supporting this accelerated approval marks a significant advancement for patients facing progressive kidney function decline," the company stated inside its regulatory filings.

In the pivotal Phase 3 ORIGIN 3 interim analysis, the therapeutic agent achieved a 46% proteinuria reduction from baseline compared to a 42% reduction over a placebo at 36 weeks.

Continued regulatory approval for the molecule remains conditional upon the verification of clinical kidney benefit through ongoing long-term filtration tracking metrics.

The company expects to publish its definitive confirmatory estimated glomerular filtration rate trial results during the third quarter of 2026.
