VEON (NASDAQ:VEON) launched Starlink-powered satellite-to-mobile service in Bangladesh through Banglalink, extending connectivity beyond conventional terrestrial mobile networks.
Customers can access essential applications and location services using a 4G handset and a Banglalink SIM, without requiring a separate satellite phone.
The service is currently available through Banglalink’s MyBL platform, with access through the RYZE application planned at a later stage.
VEON said the service is intended to help maintain basic connectivity during emergencies, natural disasters and prolonged electricity outages.
The company said the Bangladesh rollout expands its use of satellite-to-mobile technology across markets where terrestrial networks may become unavailable.
The launch follows Starlink-powered service deployments by VEON’s Kyivstar operation in Ukraine in 2025 and Beeline Kazakhstan in September 2026.
VEON’s latest rollout adds Bangladesh to its growing group of markets using satellite connectivity to supplement traditional mobile network coverage.
