U.S. GoldMining (NASDAQ:USGO) announced the completion of its 2026 drill program at the Whistler Gold-Copper Project in Alaska, marking the largest exploration campaign conducted by the company since its formation.
The program totaled 7,493 meters of core drilling across 17 holes and focused on 10 high-priority exploration targets within the Whistler Orbit area.
The drilling campaign was designed to identify additional gold-copper porphyry intrusions, expand known mineralized systems and improve understanding of the project’s geological potential.
The Whistler project is 100% owned by U.S. GoldMining and covers approximately 53,700 acres in Alaska.
The project contains estimated mineral resources of 5.41 million gold-equivalent ounces (AuEq) in the indicated category and 4.97 million AuEq ounces in the inferred category across the Whistler, Raintree West and Island Mountain deposits.
In March 2026, the company released an initial assessment and preliminary economic assessment (PEA) for the project.
The PEA estimated an after-tax net present value at a 5% discount rate (NPV5%) of US$2.04 billion, an internal rate of return (IRR) of 33.0% and a projected payback period of 2.1 years.
The economic assessment was based on long-term commodity price assumptions and used only indicated resources from the Whistler deposit.
U.S. GoldMining emphasized that the PEA is preliminary in nature and subject to several assumptions, risks and uncertainties, including future exploration results, permitting, financing and technical studies.
