Uber Technologies (NYSE:UBER) and Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Investment have reached an agreement for Uber to acquire Getir’s core delivery operations in Türkiye, a move that effectively ends the independent era of the pioneer of ultrafast grocery delivery.
The San Francisco-based company will take over Getir’s portfolio of food, grocery, retail, and water delivery services, merging them with Trendyol Go—the Turkish delivery heavyweight Uber acquired an 85% stake in for $700 million last year.
While financial terms of the Getir deal were not disclosed, reports suggest key assets were valued at up to $1 billion.
The transaction marks the final chapter in the dramatic restructuring of Getir, which was valued at nearly $12 billion in 2022 before retreating from international markets and ceding control to its lead investor, Mubadala, in 2024.
"Uber is committed to investing in Türkiye for the long term," CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in a statement, emphasizing that the deal will create a more competitive ecosystem for the country's thriving digital economy.
Under the new structure, Getir will continue to operate its "Super App," but its backend will be integrated with Trendyol Go to expand restaurant and grocery selection for users across both platforms.
