Tonix Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:TNXP) presented a retrospective U.S. real-world claims analysis at the ISPOR 2026 annual meeting, detailing a heavy economic and clinical burden among adults diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

The study, which reviewed three years of Symphony Health closed claims data, underscores the high healthcare resource utilization and severe comorbidity rates that define the patient population.

The analysis focused on a third-year cohort spanning April 2023 through March 2024, tracking 261,776 adult fibromyalgia patients.

The demographics leaned heavily female at 92.1%, with a median patient age of 53.

Notably, 93.2% of the individuals in the study presented with at least one fibromyalgia-related comorbidity, demonstrating the complex clinical management required for the condition.

Financial metrics extracted from the insured patient population revealed substantial annual costs per individual.

Inpatient services represented the largest spending category, averaging $29,896 per patient annually.

Pharmacy expenses followed at $9,453, while outpatient services averaged $6,196 per year.

The data also highlighted a highly fractured, multimodal treatment landscape.

Patients frequently cycled through several drug classes to manage symptoms, with widespread use of antidepressants, NSAIDs, anticonvulsants, gastric acid reducers, muscle relaxants, and opioids.

According to Tonix, these patterns of high cost and mixed pharmaceutical use underscore the market need for targeted interventions.

The company is currently tracking the commercial adoption of TONMYA, a first-in-class, non-opioid bedtime analgesic that it launched in the U.S. in November 2025 to address central pain signaling and improve disease management.
