Police in Texas have confirmed that the remains of a 19-year-old woman missing since Christmas Eve have been identified.
Camila Mendoza Olmos was last seen leaving her home in San Antonio for her usual morning walk.
Authorities said an extensive week-long search ended after her body was found in a field of tall grass.
Officials ruled her death a suicide and said there were no signs of foul play.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said dashcam footage released during the search appeared to show a woman wearing clothing matching Mendoza Olmos’ outfit.
The clothing in the video certainly does match up with what she was wearing.
Javier Salazar said.
Salazar said investigators explored all possible scenarios, including voluntary disappearance, self-harm and third-party involvement.
We've got to consider all possibilities from disappearing wilfully to the possibility of self-harm.
Javier Salazar said.
Authorities said a firearm belonging to a relative had been reported missing and was found near her body.
Salazar said Mendoza Olmos had been going through a difficult period prior to her disappearance.
Her parents had previously appealed publicly for her safe return during the search.
I miss her, come home.
Alfoso Mendoza said.
Police said Mendoza Olmos had left her car behind and was believed to have walked away on foot.
Officers were concerned she left without her phone, which was described as unusual.
