Teva launches AHZANTIVE, an Aflibercept biosimilar, across key European markets
Teva Pharmaceutical (NYSE:TEVA) announced the launch of AHZANTIVE (aflibercept), a biosimilar to Eylea, across several major European markets, including France, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands.
The product, which received approval from the European Medicines Agency (EMA), is being distributed in a pre-filled syringe format to support healthcare providers in the administration of retinal disease treatments.
The rollout, which began in May 2026, serves as a strategic component of Teva’s "Pivot to Growth" corporate strategy.
By entering the competitive ophthalmology biosimilars space, Teva aims to provide cost-effective treatment alternatives to existing standard-of-care biologic therapies for conditions such as neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and other retinal disorders.
The introduction of AHZANTIVE expands Teva's biosimilar offerings and reinforces the company's commitment to growing its portfolio of complex specialty medicines.
This launch is expected to enhance Teva’s market presence in the European Union, a key region for the company's long-term growth objectives as it seeks to deliver sustainable value through both its branded and generic medicine segments.
