Tesla sets Cybercab launch for September

• Tesla will unveil its production Cybercab vehicle at a September 3 launch event in Austin, Texas.

• Tesla is expanding its robotaxi strategy after receiving approval to operate up to 5,000 robotaxis in Nevada.

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) announced plans to unveil the production version of its Cybercab robotaxi at a launch event in Austin, Texas, on September 3.

The Cybercab is a two-seat vehicle designed specifically for autonomous operation and will rely on Tesla’s Full Self-Driving software as part of the company’s robotaxi strategy.

“The event will showcase the production Cybercab as Tesla continues developing autonomous transportation technology,” said Tesla management.

The vehicle does not include a steering wheel or pedals, and Tesla is positioning it as part of its planned autonomous ride-hailing network, while the company continues developing Full Self-Driving software.

Tesla stated that the launch event follows regulatory progress for robotaxi operations.

The Nevada Transportation Authority recently approved permits allowing Tesla, Waymo, and Uber to operate commercial robotaxis in Clark County, with Tesla receiving approval for up to 5,000 vehicles.

Tesla’s autonomous vehicle strategy includes expanding robotaxi operations and offering Full Self-Driving software features, while competitors including Waymo and Uber continue developing their own autonomous transportation services.
