Teledyne FLIR Defense, a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY), has been awarded a $17.5 million contract by armasuisse, the Swiss Federal Office of Defence Procurement.
The agreement covers the delivery of the Black Hornet 4, a highly advanced nano-drone, to be integrated as a key reconnaissance sensor for Switzerland’s Piranha 8x8 Armored engineering vehicle program.
The contract marks the first fielded-vehicle integration for the Black Hornet 4.
The 70-gram drone has been modified to sync with the vehicles' Integrated Combat Solution (ICS), allowing live video streams and targeting data to be shared directly with vehicle commanders.
Capable of flying for 30 minutes in GPS-denied environments, the Black Hornet 4 provides critical situational awareness while keeping crews protected within their armored vehicles.
The win follows a banner fourth quarter for Teledyne Technologies, which reported all-time record quarterly sales and profits in late January 2026.
For the quarter ended Dec. 28, 2025, Teledyne reported results that beat Wall Street expectations, driven by a 40.4% surge in its Aerospace and Defense Electronics segment.
