  • Suncor agreed to sell three Canadian offshore interests to Ithaca Energy for C$1.2 billion upfront, plus up to C$350 million tied to oil prices.
  • Ithaca will assume about C$1.9 billion of identified future commitments and liabilities linked to the assets.
  • Suncor increased monthly share repurchases to C$750 million while maintaining its 2028 free-funds-flow and breakeven targets.

Suncor Energy (NYSE:SU) agreed to sell stakes in Terra Nova, White Rose and West White Rose to Ithaca Energy for C$1.2 billion in upfront cash.

The sale covers Suncor’s 48% interest in Terra Nova, 40% in White Rose and 38.6% in West White Rose, with another C$350 million potentially payable based on future oil prices.

Ithaca will assume a C$500 million Terra Nova well-compliance program beginning in 2027 and estimated abandonment and lease liabilities of C$1.4 billion, while closing is expected in early 2027.

Suncor said the divestment supports its portfolio strategy and increased monthly share repurchases from C$500 million to C$750 million beginning in October.

The transaction is effective July 1, 2026, remains subject to regulatory approvals and partner consents, and will leave Suncor with its interests in the Hebron and Hibernia offshore projects.

Suncor also maintained its 2028 targets to increase normalized free funds flow by C$2 billion and lower its corporate WTI breakeven by US$5 per barrel.
