Summit Therapeutics (NASDAQ:SMMT) announced a clinical trial collaboration with AstraZeneca (NASDAQ:AZN) and Daiichi Sankyo to evaluate ivonescimab with Datroway in multiple solid tumor settings, including breast and lung cancer.

The companies intend to begin the collaboration with a Phase 3 study in first-line triple-negative breast cancer, expanding Summit’s ivonescimab development program into breast cancer.

“We believe this collaboration with Daiichi Sankyo and AstraZeneca reflects increasing conviction in ivonescimab’s potential as a foundational next-generation immunotherapy,” said Summit Therapeutics President and Co-Chief Executive Officer Maky Zanganeh, Ph.D.

Under the agreement, Summit, AstraZeneca and Daiichi Sankyo will each contribute their respective therapies and share trial costs, while the planned studies will be sponsored by AstraZeneca or Daiichi Sankyo.

Ivonescimab is an investigational PD-1/VEGF bispecific antibody, while Datroway is a TROP2-directed antibody-drug conjugate discovered by Daiichi Sankyo and jointly developed and commercialized with AstraZeneca.

Summit, AstraZeneca and Daiichi Sankyo will retain development and commercial rights to their respective medicines, with the collaboration intended to evaluate the combination across additional solid tumor settings beyond triple-negative breast cancer.
