Southside Bancshares (NYSE:SBSI) reported second-quarter net income of $26.8 million, up 23%, as revenue increased and expenses declined.
Diluted earnings rose 25% to $0.90 from $0.72 and exceeded analysts’ average estimate of $0.86 per share.
Net interest income rose 5.7% yearly to $57.3 million, while noninterest income increased 15.3% to $14 million.
Following the announcement, the Southside share price was down 0.3% at $34.09 as the company maintained its mid-single-digit loan-growth forecast.
Southside is a Texas-focused bank holding company with approximately $8.80 billion in assets and 55 branches across four state regions.
Recent moves include appointing Donahoe as CEO, restructuring its securities portfolio, announcing a $93 million debt redemption and paying a $0.36 quarterly dividend.
