Sonida Senior Living (NYSE:SNDA) posted resident revenue of $108.4 million for the first quarter of 2026, representing a 36.7% increase over the $79.3 million reported in the same period last year.

The surge was primarily attributed to the successful closing of the CHP merger, which significantly increased the company’s footprint of owned and operated senior housing communities.

The Dallas-based operator saw its same-store pro forma weighted average occupancy rise to 87.2%, a 220-basis-point improvement year-over-year.

This higher utilization was paired with robust pricing gains, as same-store pro forma revenue per occupied unit (RevPOR) climbed 5% to $5,274.

These operational efficiencies led to a strengthening of the pro forma community net operating income (NOI) margin, which expanded to 31.2% compared to 29.5% in the first quarter of 2025.

Despite the operational momentum, Sonida reported a net loss attributable to shareholders of $41.2 million, compared to a $12.5 million loss a year ago.

The widened deficit was largely the result of $25.5 million in incremental transaction, transition, and restructuring costs tied to the CHP integration.

On a non-GAAP basis, adjusted EBITDA rose to $21.5 million, while pro forma adjusted EBITDA at-share reached $48.0 million, reflecting the underlying earnings power of the combined entity.

Management highlighted that the company’s same-store RevPAR increased by 780 basis points to $4,601, underscoring a successful effort to balance rate growth with occupancy recovery.
