Smithfield Foods (NASDAQ:SFD) reported record financial results for its fiscal 2026 first quarter on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
For the period ended March 29, 2026, the world’s largest pork processor delivered consolidated net sales of $3.8 billion, a 0.8% increase over the same period last year, driven primarily by disciplined execution in its Packaged Meats segment.
The company achieved a record adjusted operating profit for the first quarter of $339 million, up 4% year-over-year.
Operating profit also saw a steady climb to $333 million, a 3.4% increase.
Smithfield’s Packaged Meats division remained the primary engine of profitability, contributing $275 million in operating profit.
Diluted earnings per share for the quarter reached $0.62, representing a significant 47% increase from the $0.57 reported in the first quarter of 2025.
Meanwhile, Smithfield’s balance sheet remains highly liquid, ending the quarter with $3,683 million in available liquidity and a net debt-to-adjusted-EBITDA ratio of 0.4x.
This strong financial position supported the Board of Directors' declaration of a quarterly dividend of $0.3125 per share, which was paid on April 21, 2026, to shareholders of record as of April 7.
Looking ahead, the company reaffirmed its full-year 2026 guidance, which anticipates low single-digit sales growth and total adjusted operating profit in the range of $1.325 billion to $1.475 billion.
