Resources Connection (NASDAQ:RGP) reported first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of $98.1 million for the period ended August 29, 2026, down 18.4% from $120.2 million a year earlier.
Gross margin declined to 37.4% from 39.5%, while the company reported a net loss of $8 million, compared with a $2.4 million loss in the prior-year quarter.
Resources Connection reduced selling, general and administrative expenses to $43.1 million from $47.9 million, while adjusted SG&A expenses fell to $40.3 million from $44.5 million.
Diluted loss per common share widened to $0.23 from $0.07, while the net loss margin increased to 8.1% from 2.0% a year earlier.
Adjusted EBITDA was a loss of $3.6 million, representing a negative 3.7% margin, compared with positive adjusted EBITDA of $3.1 million and a 2.5% margin a year earlier.
Resources Connection operates as a professional services firm, providing consulting and project-based services to companies across finance, accounting and other business functions.
The first-quarter results show that lower operating expenses partly offset weaker revenue, although profitability metrics deteriorated compared with the same quarter of fiscal 2026.
