PTC (NASDAQ:PTC) shares surged 34.6% to $193.80 in premarket trading after agreeing to a buyout.
The $205 per share offer represents a 42.3% premium over the software firm's previous closing price.
Schneider Electric stated that the transaction values the company's equity at approximately $22.6 billion.
The transaction marks the largest acquisition in the history of the acquiring French industrial group.
The industrial software group stated that the transaction will complement its previous acquisition of industrial data provider Cognite Holding.
Prior to the announcement PTC stock had fallen 17.3% year-to-date while the buyer gained 17.4%.
