Pony.ai (NASDAQ:PONY), a global leader in autonomous driving technology, announced on April 10, 2026, the official launch of PonyWorld 2.0.

The next-generation world-model upgrade introduces advanced self-diagnosis and targeted data collection capabilities, designed to refine the unit economics and safety profiles of its Level 4 (L4) autonomous driving stack.

The PonyWorld 2.0 system represents a significant shift in how the company trains its neural networks.

By integrating self-diagnostic protocols, the system can independently identify edge cases—complex or rare traffic scenarios—and trigger targeted data collection to address specific performance gaps.

This closed-loop approach is expected to drastically increase training efficiency and reduce the time required to "solve" new urban environments.

The upgrade has already been deployed across Pony.ai’s existing R&D and commercial fleets.

The company reported that early testing shows measurable improvements in vehicle safety, passenger comfort, and overall traffic flow efficiency, particularly in dense metropolitan areas.

The technical milestone coincides with an aggressive expansion roadmap.

Pony.ai confirmed it is targeting a total fleet size of more than 3,000 vehicles by year-end 2026.

This expansion will span 20 cities globally, with nearly half of those locations situated outside of its primary markets in China.

The company is currently active in major hubs including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, and has been expanding its footprint in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Management highlighted that the efficiencies gained through PonyWorld 2.0 are critical to achieving sustainable unit economics.
