Parsons (NYSE:PSN) announced Monday that it has been awarded a six-year, $60 million contract by the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority to lead the design for Phase 2B2 of the light rail expansion.
The deal solidifies Parsons' multi-decade tenure on the project, where the company has spearheaded design teams for every phase over the past 25 years.
The new phase involves a 2.3-mile extension of the Metro A Line (formerly the Gold Line) from its current terminus in Pomona to a new station in Claremont.
Under the contract, Parsons will advance the project from its current 30% conceptual state to "Approved for Construction" drawings.
The firm will also provide critical design support during the construction phase, ensuring technical specifications are met as the rail line moves toward its goal of becoming the world's longest linear light rail system.
This award is the first of two major contracts under the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) delivery method adopted for this segment.
While Parsons handles the engineering and design, the Construction Authority is currently in the process of procuring a construction manager, with that contract expected to be awarded in May 2026.
