Parsons secures $22M Los Angeles metro contract extension
Parsons (NYSE:PSN) has secured a $22 million contract amendment from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority to expand infrastructure and transit enhancements along the Interstate 605 corridor.
The Chantilly, Virginia-based engineering and defense technology firm confirmed that the contract modification extends its existing working agreement with Metro by 3.5 years.
The engineering work supports the transit agency’s Board-adopted Multimodal Highway Investment Objectives, a long-term urban development initiative intended to expand regional transit equity and alleviate gridlock within the highly congested Los Angeles basin.
The infrastructure project focuses on a comprehensive design upgrade targeting safety and alternative transit accessibility between the Interstate 10 and Interstate 105 interchanges.
Under the terms of the revised contract, Parsons will deliver planning, environmental clearance coordination, and engineering blueprints to integrate dedicated bicycle lanes, modernized pedestrian sidewalks, and upgraded public transit boarding platforms along the urban corridor.
To improve overall traffic velocity for commuter vehicles, Parsons will also design specialized managed lanes on the main highway, alongside optimized arterial connections linking regional freeway ramps to local municipal street networks.
The corridor project is being executed through a coordinated public partnership that includes the California Department of Transportation and the Gateway Cities Corridor Council of Governments.
