Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) announced a $3.5 billion investment in MediaTek through convertible bonds, expanding a partnership focused on AI data centers, consumer computing, and automotive platforms.
The agreement expands MediaTek’s role in Nvidia’s AI ecosystem through adoption of the NVLink Fusion platform, which connects custom accelerator chips with Nvidia’s rack-scale data center systems.
MediaTek will use NVLink Fusion technology, which combines Nvidia connectivity technology, high-bandwidth memory, advanced packaging, and rack-scale integration, while the companies continue work on Nvidia RTX Spark, DGX Spark, and automotive AI platforms based on MediaTek’s Dimensity Auto line.
Nvidia said the investment strengthens its position in AI infrastructure as customers develop custom silicon solutions.
Nvidia develops accelerated computing platforms, graphics processors, and AI infrastructure technologies used across data centers, enterprise systems, and consumer devices.
The partnership builds on previous collaboration between Nvidia and MediaTek, including the GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip used in Nvidia’s DGX Spark developer computer, as competition increases among companies supporting custom AI chip development.
