NorthStrive Defense Tech (NASDAQ:ELAB) has moved to bolster its maritime and littoral combat portfolio, announcing it has secured an exclusive option to license a specialized multi-domain drone system under U.S. Patent No. 12,291,334.

The patented technology describes a novel unmanned aerial system (UAS) capable of transporting heavy, cable-suspended payloads through water while the aircraft remains in flight above the surface.

By utilizing the natural buoyancy of the submerged payload to offset weight, the system enables the transport of significantly larger loads than traditional heavy-lift drones can carry through the air alone.

The system is designed for high-efficiency operations in complex environments, including coastal zones, riverine networks, and flood-prone areas.

Key technical features highlighted in the patent include advanced trajectory optimization and buoyancy-assisted drag reduction, which allow the drone to maintain stability while navigating varying water currents and surface conditions.

Under the terms of the Option Agreement, NorthStrive has been granted a dedicated period to conduct further technical development and secure specific project financing.

If the company chooses to exercise the option, it will trigger the negotiation of a definitive license agreement to commercialize the technology for both defense and search-and-rescue applications.

The acquisition of the option aligns with NorthStrive’s broader "Project Trident" initiative, aimed at developing a fleet of autonomous systems capable of operating across air, sea, and land boundaries.

The company cautioned that the agreement is currently limited to an option for a license.

There is no guarantee that a definitive license will be executed or that the technology will reach full-scale commercial production.
